What better way is there to mark a birthday than with a concert featuring the smooth jazz sounds of internationally renowned saxophonist and composer Tom Braxton? Join the Del Mar College Foundation and Dr. Patricia Walter, chair of the Communications, Languages and Reading Department, for the 1988 DMC alumna’s “Double Nickel” Birthday Event on Friday, Feb. 5, for one finger-snapping, fun-filled celebration. The event includes hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, silent auction and door prizes as part of this birthday bash supporting the Del Mar College Scholarship Program. Tickets are $25 online and $30 at the door. Known for his sophisticated sound on the saxophone, Braxton creates an upscale, cabaret-style, legendary supper club ambiance with his superb playing and showmanship. He’s even shared the stage with such artists as Aretha Franklin, Luther Vandross, Philip Bailey, George Duke, Jonathan Butler, Marcus Miller and Sheila E. The artist has appeared on The CBS Morning Show, B.E.T’s Jazz Central, TBS, TNT, ESPN, CNN, NBC’s Inside Stuff, ABC’s Good Morning Texas and more.
