K Space Contemporary is pleased to present Edge Friction, a full gallery installation by Leticia Bajuyo, March 2 through April 27, 2018. Bajuyo designs and creates site-specific installations of walls, horns and tubes made of CD/DVD’S woven together to create a fabric. This “fabric” is attached to aluminum frames to create the shape of the sculpture. Bajuyo’s installation will include interactive audio elements and computer controlled colored lights. Bajuyo will present gallery talks and workshops throughout the run of the show and the installation will evolve into a new shape to be unveiled at the April ArtWalk.
Bajuyo is Assistant Professor of Sculpture at Texas A&M - Corpus Christi, Texas. Recent projects by Bajuyo include a permanent, ceiling suspended sculpture in the main corridor between the galleries of the South Bend Museum of Art in South Bend, Indiana; a sixty foot-long sculptural wall in the entrance to the Indiana State Museum in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana; and a skylight installation at the International Airport in Nashville Tennessee.
